Your Success is our Commitment!

Whether studying online or on campus you’re not alone. At the Academic Success Centre, we are committed to your success. Our services are for all CNC students, and they are free of charge.

Here are some of the ways that we can help you.

Tutoring

CNC’s faculty tutors are experts in the fields of Math; English; Science, Business, and Accounting. Students from programs such as Health Sciences, The Trades, Engineering, and Forestry also find our tutors helpful in understanding the many concepts in their courses. We tutor the material found at all levels from Academic Upgrading to your final year.

Our tutoring service is available face-to-face at the Academic Success Centre or online via video conferencing or phone. You can book up to two 30-minute appointments each week for each subject area.

Academic Writing Skills

Our English tutors are available to work with you to become the best writer you can be. From understanding the question through the processes of brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, editing and polishing we will support you. Whether you are a novice or expert we can assist you in taking your writing to the next level.

In addition to our faculty tutors, CNC has partnered with the online writing tutoring platform called WriteAway. After submitting your assignment online to WriteAway. A qualified tutor will provide you with written feedback on ways to improve your assignment. Check out writeaway.ca for more information.

Study Skills (Learning Strategies)

Our tutors can assist you to develop and refine the academic skills needed for you to succeed in your courses. We will work with you to develop study skills such as semester planning, time management, and the specific skills needed for online learning. We hold study skill labs and workshops throughout the semester and post many how-to guides/videos on our webpage

English Language Support for Non-Native English Speakers

Tutors trained in teaching English as a second language are here to help as you develop your reading comprehension, academic writing, public speaking, and other language skills. We will help you understand and work through your assignments, which will result in improved English proficiency, greater confidence, and a better grade.

Aboriginal Tutoring Service

The Aboriginal Centre (known as the ARC) at CNC invites tutors into their Centre to provide all of the aforementioned services to Aboriginal learners.
