A persuasive paper starts with an opinion on a debatable question.
You then attempt to convince your reader of your point of view using well-defended opinions and heartfelt emotional appeals. You are not required to, cite scientific studies, statistics, or quotes from experts.
Thesis Statement
Your thesis statement should always clearly state your topic and your point of view. Everything else in your essay relates to this central sentence.
Example persuasive essay question:
Is society too dependent on technology? Write a persuasive essay convincing your reader of your point of view.
Example thesis statement:
The ever-increasing dependence on technology has caused many people to struggle to think for themselves.
Body Paragraphs
Each of your body paragraphs discusses one supporting idea that supports your point of view.
Make a statement about your supporting idea in your topic sentence at or near the beginning of each body paragraph.
Example body paragraph topic sentence:
I, like most others, don't bother to commit to memory trivial information that can be found with a quick search on our phones.
