APA Citation Style (7th edition)

An Introduction to using APA Citation Style (7th Edition)

A word of caution!

The following examples are from the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 7th ed. or derived from resources in the College of New Caledonia Library. Please see the manual for further instructions and examples.

Sometimes there are no specific examples available in the APA Publication Manual for the resource you are using (e.g. course packs), so we have provided our best interpretation of the rules. If you are uncertain about how to cite a resource after reviewing this guide, please check with your instructor or contact a librarian or assistant in the Academic Success Center.

According to the APA Publication Manual, 7th edition (2020), "The purpose of a reference list entry is to provide readers with the details they will need to perform a search themselves if necessary, not to replicate the path the author of the work personally used" (p. 296).
